On Feb. 9, 2014, rock band Queens of the Stone Age played at Bayou Music Center, touring their recent sixth album, “…Like Clockwork.” Senior Dayton Rosenberg thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“At any good concert, there’s a lot of stage presence and a good mix,” Rosenberg said. “Josh Homme [the frontman of Queens of the Stone Age] had a great stage presence.”

Though the concert was meant to tout their new material, the band opened with two older songs, “You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire” and “No One Knows.” Ten of the band’s songs, however, were from “…Like Clockwork.” Rosenberg had purchased the CD two days before the concert, and came early to ensure a great experience.

“I got there about three hours before opening to get real close, and I got real close,” Rosenberg said. “If I had chosen to, I could have stroked Josh Homme’s face.”

Standing nearly 10 feet away from the stage with barely enough space to stand, Rosenberg saw the band up close and personally. He says the way the band performed had a lot of things he admired in a concert.

“I liked the fact that they acknowledged the audience,” Rosenberg said. “Sometimes I see bands and they come out there and it’s just like listening to an album with warm bodies on stage. Whereas at this show, they interacted with the audience and everybody.”
