Annual Christmas Concert

Annual+Christmas+Concert

December 8th, on a chilly Tuesday night, the Mighty Cardinal bands performed a medley of songs in the auditorium that was a part of their annual Christmas Concert. The show started at 6:30 p.m. and the seats were filled to hear Bellaire’s talented group of musicians play songs to have everyone get in the holiday spirit.

The beginning band started the show by showcasing well-known holiday songs, such as Frosty the Snowman, composed by Walter Rollins and Steve Nelson, and Jingle Bell Rock, by Joseph Beal and James Boothe. Upon finishing the delightful tunes, the audience applauded in appreciation. Afterwards, the Jazz Ensemble performed powerful songs backed by drums and saxophones. Doxy by Walter Rollins and Hit the Bricks by Gordon Goodwin were the songs that put this blues-style mix in to the spotlight. For the finale, the Might Cardinal Band was introduced with a break to thank sponsors, parents, and the directors, Bill Waltemath, whom conducted the band for the evening, and Grant Beiner. Then after playing the national anthem, the band proceeded to play holiday music to represent other holidays. A Fireside Christmas by Sammy Nestico was an arrangement of multiple holiday songs in to one, Festive Sounds of Hanukah by Bill Holcombe, and Santiago by King were the highlights of the evening.

The Mighty Cardinal Bands have future district and UIL competitions to prepare for following the holiday showcase. We can’t wait to see them excel in competitions and perform again during fall halftime shows for football games!
