Thor: Ragnarok Movie Review

“Thor: Ragnarok” is the third film in the Thor series and the 17th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, who must save his home planet Asgard from a prophecy called Ragnarok and his evil sister, Hela, who is looking to take over as ruler.

The story takes Thor through trials and tribulations such as fighting his once comrade, Hulk, in a coliseum gladiator-style to escape a foreign planet and seeing an important figure in his life pass away. The major conflict of the movie is Thor dealing with change in his life, including not having his hammer for the majority of the 130-minute thriller.

The movie impressed many people, including junior Thomas Tony.

“The movie was an improvement from the previous film. The cinematography really shows how Marvel delivers. The conflicts that Thor has to deal with is something that is a staple in Marvel films.”

One aspect of the movie that stood out was the comedy injected into it. The characters such as Thor and Loki were created to be more light-hearted and funny compared to the previous movies when they were at battle. Another key that made the movie the box office juggernaut it is was the special effects. The fire demon Surtur was a character that really popped out due to his fiery and villainous presence. Asgard was created to give off a fairytale like vibe to impress the audience.

“Thor: Ragnarok” became a critical and box office success. It garnered a 92% percent approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes and $291 million in the first 5 weeks in the United States alone. Overall, I give the movie a 9/10 for its captivating fight scenes and thrilling journeys.
