Cross Country Regional Meet

With the cross country regionals coming soon runners were preparing for the biggest meet of their season. Tensions rise, predictions are made and excitement reaches its peak. In the end 4 teams progress to state and the remaining 24 go home empty handed.

Varsity runner Michael Flora weighed in on his take of what he expected for this years regional meet and training leading up to the meet.

“The team definitely has the potential to qualify for the state meet. Last year was disappointing when we were one spot away from making the cut, but I think it fired us up and it making us hungry.” Flora said.

“If we run to our potential and trust one another, we will definitely be fighting for the final spot in state.” Flora said.

Bellaire cross country has been on the rise and has had much positive momentum since last year when they came within one spot of going to state. The motivation and potential to succeed is at its peak coming up to regionals.

“We aren’t training that much differently as of now. The training has proven itself in the past so, there is no need to change it now.” Flora said.

Since last year much training has been done and the miles on the Brays Bayou have been put in. since all the hard work has been done it is now time to preform and run the race.

Overall the Bellaire cross country team has high expectations for this year’s regional meet. Nothing is a sure thing in the sport of cross country and anything can happen. However, never has the prospect of going to state seemed to be more attainable than now.
