Mr. Bellaire pageant show fundraises for senior prom

Feb 19, 2016

On Jan. 28, the annual Mr. Bellaire show was held as a way to fundraise for the senior class of 2016. A night filled with fun and laughter, the show had different components- a swimsuit show, a talent show, and a formal portion. Throughout the night, we gained new perspectives on the senior class who performed as the audience gleefully watched days of rehearsals fall into place. Senior Dorcas Solarin spoke on the process of rehearsals and how she felt throughout it.

“It was really fun to get to be creative and find costumes to wear,” Solarin said. “The preparation and the planning that went into it during the last couple days were fun.”

While rehearsing was fun, Solarin explained that she started to feel anxious but excited about the show and all the hard work put in to it.

“Before the show, I was more than ready to get it over with,” Solarin said. “We’ve practiced almost every Sunday and our signature moves so I was so excited to finally perform it in front an audience.”

Senior Christian Stuart also talked about what he enjoyed most from the show. While the entire performance was enjoyable, Stuart’s favorite part was relaxing after the show was over.

“Seeing my friends and hanging out with them after we were done,” Stuart said. “During the rehearsals though, I loved joking around with the other guys and getting to mess around.”

Even beyond performing to fund prom, the performers enjoyed doing it for themselves and for the enjoyment of others.

“It was worth the three hour long rehearsals,” Solarin said. “Even though there were a couple mishaps, we all had fun and enjoyed ourselves, the audience included.”

Overall, Mr. Bellaire was a success. While a lot of money was raised for the cause, all the performers enjoyed it immensely and in the end, they were able to further support the senior class of 2016.
