What award did you receive?

National Achievement Award

How did you qualify for this award?

There was certain score you were supposed to take on the PSAT, over 186, and I got it. The award is specifically for African Americans. I was actually kind of surprised I won the award.

What are your thoughts on receiving the award?

The award is pretty cool. I am honor to have received it. I have taken the SAT, and plan to take it again. I hope to get a better score and receive another award.

Where do you want to go to college?

I hope to attend Howard University in Washington D.C.

I did well on the PSAT that I took when I was a junior last year during the fall. I got the cutoff score of 182 or higher for Hispanic students.

What are your thoughts on receiving the award?

I feel pretty good. I have something really good to put on my resume, and hopefully colleges will be impressed. I’m really glad I got National Hispanic Scholar.

My top school as of now is Columbia.

Q&A: Honorable Mention recipient Camila Wilson

What award did you receive?

Honorable Mention in National Hispanic Recognition Program

How did you qualify for this award?

I took the AP in Spanish, and I got a good score on it. My score was high enough to receive an honorable mention. Only two people from Bellaire were chosen.

What are your thoughts on receiving the award?

I am really proud. I’m glad that my hard work in Spanish paid off. A lot of years in Spanish really did end up with reward. Hopefully, if I go into anything with teaching, knowing a foreign language will help with my courses.

Where do you want to go to college?

I hope to go to the University of Houston.
