Senior Belles Officers wins CW 39’s Class Act Award
On Oct. 31, senior Bellaire Belle officer Mattison Sims was recognized by CW 39 News as a Class Act. This award is given to students who excel not only in school but also in extracurricular activities. Sims has been a part of the Bellaire Belles for 3 years and now holds the position of Dance Officer.
“It’s amazing,” Sims said. “It was an honor to be recognized as a great leader of the Bellaire Belles.”
As one of the captains, her schedule can be pretty busy, she said.
“Everyday starts off the same,” Sims said. “I wake up around 5:45 am and prepares for a full day of class and two periods of Belles as well as after school practice.”
Many would be tired just trying to get through a day of this, but Sims goes through this every week. During these practices Sims often leads the teams in stretches, technique exercises and making sure that everyone is ready for the weeks halftime performance.
With a full schedule like this it can be easy to get overwhelmed and even discouraged, but Sims finds ways to get through each day. The easiest way for Sims to get through the week is time management and prioritizing.
“Time management plays a big role in my life, along with prioritizing and being sure to stay focused.” said Sims.
Some days can be too much for Sims and when she finds herself going through hardship, she remembers what inspires her the most.
“My future keeps me motivated, focused, and eager and reach my goals.”
Along with an aspiring future that keeps her motivated, family and close friends keep her centered.
“When things get rough, I turn to my supportive friends and family and, most importantly, God.”
