The Free Press Summer Festival (FPSF) will take place May 31 and June 1 from 11a.m. to 10p.m. at Eleanor Tinsley Park in Downtown Houston. Free Press released the musical lineup at 10a.m. this morning. After quickly selling out the blind presale, Free Press had to meet and exceed people’s expectations after last year’s sold out festival. Headliners last year included Macklemore, Passion Pit, 2 Chainz and The Postal Service.
Headliners of the 2014 festival include Jack White, Vampire Weekend, Zedd, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Above & Beyond, Wu-Tang Clan, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Dwight Yoakum, Childish Gambino and Deftones. Other performers include Cage the Elephant, Die Antwoord, Washed Out, Adventure Club and The Kills. All six stages at the park will be filled with outstanding talent and entertaining performers.
For hip-hop fans, Childish Gambino, Die Antwoord, Wu-Tang Clan, Ying Yang twins and DMX will put on memorable, high intensity performances. Alternative rock and typical festival indie music will also be represented by Washed Out, Cage the Elephant and The Kills. Headliner Dwight Yoakum will bring the country music.
In addition to the nationally recognized performers, Free Press also continues to highlight local groups from the Houston area. Although well known performers, such as Zedd, Vampire Weekend and Childish Gambino, lead the hype, other performers should not be ignored. Local favorites Venomous Maximus, the Tontons, Wild Moccasins and Los Skarnales will perform at the festival during the day before the main headliners.
Only weekend passes are available for the festival; no single day passes are being sold. General admission tickets are currently being sold for $140.50. Fancy Pants passes which include access to private viewing and an air conditioned tent are currently being sold for $230.50. Tickets are expected to sell out well before the festival. The ticket prices will continue to rise as more are sold and the concert comes closer.
