If you like suits, black formal dresses, or elbow-length gloves, then the choir’s first concert of the school year on Tuesday, October 13, was the place to be. The hour-long event featured 172 students in the 7 different choirs.

Sophomore Olivia Wehrung, president of belle voci (which literally translates to “beautiful voice”), had never before performed in a concert with Bellaire’s choir, though she had previous experience with her church choir.

“We’ve been preparing,” Wehrung said. “Since the second week of school.”

Sophomore Samantha Goldenberg, co-historian of cantamus, thought the preparation was worth it. The experience she had received as a second year as a member of the choir and the six prior concerts she had participated in seemed to have benefitted her.

“I think I liked [this concert] better [than past concerts],” Goldenberg said. “We got to be super cool and individual and do harder music.”

The choir’s hard work paid off, according to sophomore Arturo Monzon, a bass 2 in men’s concert chorale. He noted that chorale’s Monday night practices from 6:30 to 8:30 were “super fun” as well as a good way to perfect the music.

“I’ve been to multiple Bellaire choir concerts,” sophomore and concert attendee Eduardo Moeller said. “This one definitely takes the cake, though.”
