Pop-Up Art Show: Review
On Nov. 27, there was a pop-up art show filled with talent and creativity. Located at a rented out space near Minute Maid Park, local Houston teenagers spread out their sprouting clothing lines and paintings. For only a $5 entrance fee, one could see paintings, body art, original clothing lines, hear music, and spend time socializing with friends as well as the artists. The entire rented space was filled with art and had graffiti sprayed evenly throughout the outdoor establishment. Abandoned buses were turned into works of art by each designer, and were completely renovated to accommodate the ideals of the artists. Former Bellaire student Aliah Montazeri unveiled some of his pieces that he had been working. For sale were extremely colorful paintings ranging from famous artist portraits such as Bella Hadid to local Houston skylines. VIZN creator and designer, Phoenix Guerrero had his bus in his newest lines’ colors. Baby blue and bubblegum pink stripes were painted on the ceiling of this bus- his showing space- with his logo of a security camera. Personal pictures with friends wearing the clothing were hung up all around the bus along with fairy lights. Friends were brought and pieces of furniture were turned into displayed projects. The experience of parading through these works of art and examining the designer’s ideas and projections was a truly neat experience. So much talent among young adults was brought to surface in this one-of-a-kind event. As of now, this was the only pop-up art event planned, but hopefully there will be some more in the upcoming future.
