Jumanji movie review
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” was released to most American theatres on Dec. 20. This remake was a modern version of the original “Jumanji” that came out in 1995. In this film, four high school kids discover an old video game at their school. When they proceed to play, they get sucked into the game as the avatars they chose. The only way to return to the real world is to complete the video game. If they do not succeed in avoiding the dangers put in their path, they will be trapped in the game forever. Rebekah Wong, a sophomore, wanted to advise students who were worried about the movie being scary to look past the somewhat ominous reviews. Despite the movies genre listed as Fantasy/Action, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” was full of humor.
“Jumanji was a lot funnier than I thought it would be,” Wong said. “I went to go see it because my friend told me that I should go with her. She said it was not scary. I did not believe her at first. I went with her and I thought it actually was not scary like reviews say online.”
Even though Wong went into the theatre nervous as to how she would feel afterwards, she enjoyed the movie.
“It was a really good movie,” Wong said. “The plot was super interesting. It turned from real life into this fake cartoony animated life. The jungle part was kind of weird at first but then it started getting actually interesting when the bad guys and the plot where introduced.”
Overall I enjoyed “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”. It was a perfect balance between action and humor. I give this movie a big thumbs up!
