Pizza Motus Review
Opened in August, Pizza Motus focuses on serving Roman Pizza or “Pizza al Taglio” in the West U area. Owner Will Gruy, who spent his formative years in Italy, says the differentiating factor between Pizza Motus’ pizza and other pizzas is its crust. This kind of pizza is defined by its light and airy crust and the rectangular shape of the pizzas. This new restaurant describes their crust as being the result of a fermentation process which takes place in a freezer for 2-3 days and a sudden flash bake.
Walking into the small restaurant, I found the space to be well-structured with plenty of seating and a comfortable atmosphere for a meal. The decor around the restaurant goes with the name “Pizza Motus” as motus is Latin for motion, and the restaurant walls had pictures of vehicles in action. When I went at 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was mostly empty and I received my order quickly.
I ordered the fried calamari and a margherita personal pizza. The sizes were large and the pizza is enough to have some leftovers. The calamari was crispy and was complemented by the sauce provided with it. The margherita pizza tasted as others I have had at other restaurants with exception to the crust. The crust was thick and full of air pockets, which made the pizza particularly delicious.
All in all, I would recommend this restaurant for those who want to try a different style of pizza. The quality of the food and service was high, and the variety of menu items other than pizza allows people to taste multiple dishes in their meal. However, with the prices being somewhat high with my pizza being $12.50, expect to pay more than you would at a pizzeria.
