HUMANS OF BELLAIRE – Adithya Bhaskar
“I came to Texas my junior year. I was in Syracuse, New York for my sophomore year. Until my freshman year, I was in the Middle East. I was born there, but my parents migrated [from] there, and I studied there until my freshman year. All I regret is [that] I couldn’t come to the U.S. earlier because that affected my GPA and stuff. I wish I could start my freshman year super fresh with a 5.0. Colleges don’t know how much stuff we’re doing, like why [one] has a low GPA. They don’t care, actually. I’m going to HCU, which is a huge step from this moment, and I’m majoring in biology. I’m planning to go to med school. It’s a long journey. I’ll end up old anyway, but at the end of the day, I’m going to graduate from there.
My junior year, I joined eMotion. I’m in breakdance. It started when my dad [signed me up] for some summer classes when I was a kid, and since then, I got this interest in dancing. He also [signed me up for] piano classes, so both of them were good for me. I had to choose one at one point, and I chose dancing because that’s where I enjoy myself. Academically, everything was actually cool. My junior year was stressful because of college, especially the AP exams and all that. The only time where I could take a breather was during 4th period [eMotion]. We could all see friends and just chill out for one period at least.
Joining eMotion was one of the best decisions. [It] was not just my decision, because I asked many people for suggestions. Spending time [in] eMotion, you have to keep some time for dancing and you have to balance that with your academic things, so it was a huge decision. But right now when I think about it, I did the right thing.
Since then, it’s actually [been] a long journey. One of the memorable things recently was the spring show. I don’t regret it because it’s all a part of the process I’ve learned. One thing I would like to advise to the underclassmen, next year’s seniors: Nothing’s impossible until it’s done, so don’t just give up on it.”
