Year after year the Robotics club has won competitions throughout Texas and even attended the FIRST Robotics World Championship in early 2013. The Robotics Team not only provides students with valuable skills such as using power tools, but also encourages leadership during the building process.
Junior Paul Tan is excited about working on the robots this year and preparing for the upcoming competitions that they will be part of.
“I joined Robotics club because I thought it would be a fun way to spend my spare time after school,” said Tan. “Since I want to pursue a career in engineering and computer programming in the future, Robotics club was the perfect choice. I get to learn things like proper use of power tools and designing robots which could really help me out in the future. It’s also a very fun club, you get to meet lots of cool people and build cool robots. Since we did not do as well as we wanted to in our first competition, we are hoping to make some changes to our robot and prepare for the next competition in November.”
Being a first year member, Tan is excited for the upcoming competitions after attending the first VEX Competition on Oct. 26. The entire Robotics Team plans to make changes to their robots in order to come out on top in the upcoming competitions. The entire team is excited and hopes to attend the World Championship this year.
