At the beginning of April, Bellaire track and field team competed in the district meets. Junior Varsity team competed on April 4th and 7th at Butler Stadium while the Varsity team competed April 8th, 9th and 11th at Barnett stadium. Bellaire is in District 20-5A, along with 5 other competitive schools- Chavez, Houston Lamar, Madison, Westbury and Westside. The boys team placed first while the girls team placed second overall. Runners competed for the top four spots in order to make it to area.

Junior Arjun Das ran the 3200 m and the 1600 m in districts. He plans to be able to compete at the state meet.

“This season has been the fastest season for me yet” Das said. “I broke 10 minutes for the 2 mile run with a 9:57, and I ran a 4:38 for the 1600 m. Bellaire track team has had several victories this year. After districts, we will compete against some of the fastest runners at area. The top four at area will move to regionals, and top two at regionals will go to state.”
