Choir hosts their cabaret
On Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7, the Bellaire Choir performed at the Cabaret, which was held at the Bellaire United Methodist Church. The Cabaret kicked off with all choir students singing “Willkommen” to welcome the guests. Students performed solos, duets or trios while families and friends dined at candlelit tables in front of the stage. Choir members who were not performing worked as waiters, bouncing from table to table.
Junior Daniel Ramirez, a Concert Chorale member, explained the tradition of Cabaret.
“Cabaret is a fundraiser that helps the choir,” Ramirez said. “It’s a really fun event to go to.”
Ramirez sang “Una en un Millon” (One in a Million) for his solo on Saturday. He described on his rehearsal process.
“I practiced the song over and over at home usually listening to the accompaniment,” Ramirez said. “I felt like I rehearsed really well.”
Ramirez recounted his feelings on the night of his performance.
“I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be,” Ramirez said. “When I went on stage I felt very confident. After I finished singing I felt like I did a good job. I felt very accomplished.”
As a member of the audience, Junior Rituparna Mukherjee enjoyed that the whole choir sang “Suppertime,” while serving the guests dinner.
“I thought it was a really nice personal touch,” Mukherjee said.
Mukherjee also commented on the singers’ energy.
“The singers were super energetic on stage,” Mukherjee said. “They performed really well, and some even got the audience to participate.”
The night concluded with a final song, “Thank You”, from the choir.
