Students focused on mental and physical wellness during the Wellness Club’s meeting, where members participated in meditation and brain exercises to open their minds in Room 2710 on Oct. 8.
Club member and junior Charlotte Heemer said that this meeting helped clear her mind and manage the stress of the school year.
“Wellness Club helps improve my mental health by being an outlet for stress and anxiety during the school year,” Heemer said. “I liked meditating today because it helps us focus [on] our emotions and become more relaxed.”
Other members like junior Rayna Parikh said the club provides a peaceful space to pause during the school day. She said that those quiet moments make a noticeable difference in her focus.
“Wellness Club improves my mental health because it is calming during the stressful school day,” Parikh said. “It’s nice to go and unwind at the meeting after APUSH.”
Senior Meeting Coordinator Lauren Magid said that the sense of calmness reflects their larger mission to support students’ overall wellness.
“Our ultimate goal is to help people,” Magid said. “We want to spread the ideas of wellness to everyone to help improve the lives of our peers.”
The club plans to continue group-based activities, including a wellness walk in nature later this semester, and looks forward to spreading mindfulness positivity.
