Bellaire showed Wisdom High School what 6-A football is all about when they routed the recently promoted Generals in a 38-12 blowout at Butler Stadium on Oct. 10.
Despite issues with ball security, fumbling over three times, Bellaire found the endzone multiple times, scoring with three rushing touchdowns coming from senior tight end Chris Wilson and freshman running back Jake Brasington and two passing touchdowns from junior quarterback Will Hazen to junior wideout Tony Miller.
The defense forced multiple turnovers on their own to keep Bellaire in the game, holding Wisdom to just six points in each half.
“[I had] two picks,” junior defensive back Keaton Davis said. “We did our part, mainly in the second quarter [and] second half, we did a great job.”
The defense locked down Wisdom in a crucial 4th and 5 moment in the second half to leave the score at 14-6 heading into halftime. Davis had two interceptions preventing two twenty yard bombs, and Bellaire recovered two Wisdom fumbles.
“We’re gonna try to get as many forced turnovers as we can,” Davis said. “We’re gonna keep [the] offense on the field.”
On top of the annual Pinkout night, Bellaire Cheer also hosted their Senior Night.
“This is a night where we honor all of our seniors,” senior cheerleader Isabella Gee said. “Most of us have been here for all four years at [Butler Stadium] so it’s really a night that we get recognized, and it’s fun.”
With the win against Wisdom, the Cardinals have moved up to a 5-2 overall record. Come support Bellaire at its next game against Chavez at Barnett Stadium at 7 p.m. on Oct. 18.
