The gym was buzzing as the varsity girls volleyball team got ready to play Westside. The last time they met, it had taken Bellaire four close sets to emerge victorious. This time around, they made it seem effortless — sweeping the Wolves in a dominant win.
From the first serve, the team was focused and quick. Every dig, set and hit, the Cards maintained accuracy. The teams’ communication was consistent by the end of the this set, the Cardinals finished set one 25-16.
“We really focused on this game to get ready for playoffs,” senior and defensive specialist Grace Warner said. “We came in confident, and our energy really carried us through. I think having that mindset kept everyone’s head in the game.”
The Cardinals offensive pressure led to Westside calling many timeouts during the match, finishing the third set 25-11. Head Coach K credited the team’s shifted focus and preparation for the smooth win.
“We have definitely showed improvement—we prepared more mentally for this game,” Coach K said. “Our goal is to keep mentally building our stamina.”
The victory not only added another win to Bellaire’s record but also showcased the team’s growth since their last matchup. The difference between four sets and three wasn’t just numerical to them — it was a reflection of their confidence, cohesion and hard work paying off.
As the players celebrated on the court, one thing was clear — this wasn’t just a win. It was a statement.
With only three games left until playoffs, the team is ready to carry that same energy all the way through and advances to a 8-0 district record.
