Album Review: Rihanna’s Anti

On Jan. 28, 2016 Rihanna debuted her 8th studio album Anti. The album was originally released on Tidal, the private music app ran by her label, Roc Nation. Once released on Itunes she sold over one million copies in less than a day. Anti touches on Rhianna’s past relationships and shows her true feelings and tells a story about her inner thoughts.

Although her new hit “Work” featuring Drake is climbing the charts, her love ballads like “Kiss It Better” and “Love on the Brain” give off an old time feel. Her emotional lyrics in “Love on the Brain” let you capture her past painful love and has many asking if the song is about her past lover, Chris Brown.

However, love songs are not the only type if songs that are featured on Anti. There are many songs that fully capture Rihanna’s well-known sass like “Needed Me” and “Yeah I Said It” let listeners know that she is indeed the “it” girl in pop. A long with her sass, she has songs that show her dark side. “Desperado” gives off the impression that she just wants to run away from her current situation with a new person.

Having won a Grammy in 2010 for her fifth album, Loud, Rihanna hopes to win awards for the 2017 Grammy’s for Anti. With a large fan base and a common theme for most of her songs, Rihanna’s fame seems as though it will go on for a while.

Feb. 26 kicks off the Anti world tour starting in San Diego, California and ending in Zurich, Switzerland. Since her last tour was in 2013 we can officially say that the queen of sass is back in action!
