Sophomore and president of Karaoke club Josephine Eltzschig organized a karaoke party at event coordinator and sophomore Raya Jogi’s house on Oct. 25, attended by around 30 members.
“As the president of Karaoke Club, I [wanted] to celebrate our club’s spirit and have fun singing my heart out,” Eltzschig said. “The party made me so happy to see many people unite to enjoy music and have fun. It felt like a big hug.”
The party was a casual way for members to do karaoke together, eat food and hang out.
“My favorite part was just spending time with friends,” Kamea Ta, vice president of Karaoke Club, said. “The party was great, I think everyone had a lot of fun.”
Members performed many iconic songs including, “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys, “APT” by Rosé and Bruno Mars and “Let it Go” by Idina Menzel.
“I had a lot of fun meowing a rendition of Billie Elish’s “What Was I Made For,” sophomore Penelope Wen said.
Sophomore Rajan Vyas came to the party to do more than just sing.
“I attended this party because I wanted to meet new people and develop new friendships,” said Vyas. [This party gave me] a better sense of community because in school you’re basically with whoever is in your classes [and] you don’t really get a chance to interact with people outside of that, other than lunch. The party made me feel excited and I’m looking forward to the next one.”
