Student Council announced the winners for Homecoming Spirit Week at their meeting in Room 3701 on Oct. 23. Winners were selected from finalists through an online form and received $15 Chick-Fil-A gift cards.
“Everybody that won was chosen by the student body,” junior and StuCo’s event and outreach chair Elaine Wang said. “That process was relatively easy.”
Senior Ellie Callaci won for Movie Character Monday, juniors Auden Burgert and Elizabeth Charbonneau won for Class Color War Tuesday, Senior Betiel Elma won for Fraternity Boy or Sorority Girl Wednesday, Senior Benaiah Trevino won for Hawaiian Beach Day Thursday and Callaci won again for Cardinal Spirit Friday.
Elma wanted to go “all out” for spirit week because it’s her senior year. She reused clothing and accessories from her house to create her outfits.
“For me, dressing up for spirit week is a form of self-expression,” Elma said. “In high school, people are very judgy and you have to fit in and dress a certain type of way. But for spirit week, you can dress however you like and no one can say anything about you.”
