The Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café is on a mission to “sweeten the world.” Before the bakery’s creation the founders, Allison Young Chavez and Ivan Chavez went around the world to taste crepes and develop recipes. The founders were successful in their goal and developed over a hundred different crepe recipes. Now the Sweet Paris Creperie & Café has three locations, two in Houston at the Rice Village, City Centre locations and one in Vallarta, Mexico.
After traveling the world, the founders made the promise “Eat Here, Feed There” in hopes of fighting world hunger. Now the bakery is in collaboration with the World Food Program USA and Fundación Delia Moran. The Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café will donate 25 cents for each crepe bought through the World Food Program USA and for each crepe sold through the foundation $10 to the Delia Moran Foundation.
The Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café’s concern for the community is not the only reason it is attractive to consumers. Passing by the Rice Village one will smell the aroma of sweet crêpes. Outside small cocktail tables and umbrellas give the café a vintage Paris feel. The café has a monochromatic look, for its walls are light shade of baby blue. Upon a friend’s recommendation the reviewing party ordered Nutella crepes with strawberries and bananas. Although the addition of fruit costs extra, the fruit adds a significant contrast of flavor with the Nutella. A complete crepe with two toppings will cost about $7 which is less than a Starbucks drink! In addition to sweet crêpes the café has breakfast crêpes, savory crêpes as well as waffles and soups. With the sweet sound of French music going to the Sweet Paris Crêperie will transport anyone to a simpler, sweeter time.
