Working to gain $100,000 and become a model for a year, Junior Koraima Gracia attempts to win the Nuestra Modelo 2012.
On October 14th, Koraima and thirty-nine other girls will compete in the Nuestra Modelo pageant.
“The Nuestra Modelo is a Miss America-type competition that is geared towards the Hispanic community of Houston,” Gracia said.
Right now, Koraima and her fellow contestants are preparing for the event.
“We are going to classes and we did a commercial last week and it’s supposed to come out on the Spanish channels… and we are doing runway practice and working on a dance, which is how we will open the show,” Gracia said.
If Koraima wins she will joins a much larger circuit in Dallas and Austin.
“If I win, I get to go to Dallas and then Austin and compete with the Dallas and Austin girls,” Gracia said.
Koraima feels she is ahead of the game though.
“My mom heard it on the radio and was told to just bring me in, but I heard that the other girls had to wait to hear back,” Gracia said. She hopes that winning the Nuestra Modelo will help kick-start her potential modeling career.
