Adele’s 25 Album Review

Adele's 25 Album Review

“Hello…

It’s me…

I was wondering if after all this time you’d like to meet,” begins Adele in her award-winning album 25. “Hello,” the first and most popular song on the album yet, sets the mood for the songs to follow. Using an array of powerful vocals, deep melodies, and stunning lyrics, 25 represents the somber and powerful woman Adele is at age 25. Her stately face, bold winged eyeliner, and unwaveringly strong vocals solidify the album into a vocal masterpiece.

Instead of happy pop love songs, she addresses the melancholy truth of heartache. She asks for lost love to not be “Water Under the Bridge,” although it was “A Milion Years Ago” when she grew up by the “River Lea.” She addresses age and her past with “When We Were Young,” and tells her ex to “Send My Love: To Your New Lover.” The intense rhythm of the album stays true to Adele’s unique nature and background as an opera singer.

Most recently winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, 25 has racked up awards everywhere. In 2016 it won the Brit Award for Mastercard British Album of the Year, Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, Billboard Music Award for Top Billboard 200 Album, Juno Award for International Album of the Year, Echo Award for Best International Rock/Pop Female Artist, BBC Music Award for Album of the Year, and Emma Award for Best-Selling Artist.

With the vocal power inspired by the likes of Whitney Houston and Sia, awards across the board, and a unique sound unlike traditional albums, Adele’s 25 is an album for the ages.
