Seniors survive the rain to make it to prom
The red clock time flashed 5:32. Large droplets of rain attacked the blurring windshields as the cars struggled to make drive through deep pools of water. Houston is flooding once again, but this time, it is prom night.
Seniors Eric Shi and Megan Doan had originally planned to take prom pictures at Centennial Garden at 4 in the afternoon. However, they were more than an hour late and the garden was definitely not suitable for outdoor pictures.
“It was such a crazy night,” Doan said. “We thought we were super prepared but we had absolutely no idea on what to do after the rain hit. I was calling all of my friends but none of us knew where to go.”
Eventually settling for Rice University, Doan and her friends planned to meet up there in order to take indoor pictures. Yet, the short distance between their cars and the building was enough to get them thoroughly wet.
“I was soaking wet,” Shi said. “I felt super bad for the girls because they spent so much time working on their hair and makeup. Fortunately, the rain calmed down after a while and we were able to take some pictures.
