Johanna Wen, Art Director
Senior Johanna Wen is an Art Director, columnist, and third-year member. They aspire to write articles, keeping students at Bellaire well informed. Outside of TPP, they are the Japanese Club President and enjoy researching and sharing Japanese culture. They enjoy drawing, animating, baking, playing Dungeons and Dragons, Cookie Run Kingdom, and Splatoon.
Angel Harper, Photo Editor
Angel Harper, photo editor and distribution manager, is a senior and third-year staffer, joined the Three Penny Press to talk about important issues and ensure everyone’s voice is heard. She is the president of Page by Page and co-president of Black Student Association. Outside of school, she is obsessed with reading, specifically the Percy Jackson series. She also enjoys playing flag football and crying over fictional characters. Angel also loves the color pink, sweet food, and hearing other people’s opinions on various topics.
Ashley Park, Chief Print Editor
Senior and Chief Print Editor Ashley Park joined the Three Penny Press to share inspiring stories of students and teachers through various forms of media, writing, and design. Outside of TPP, she leads the Girls Who Code Club, Korean Student Association, Women in STEM Club, Art Car Club, Boys Volleyball team, and many more. During her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and volleyball, spends late-night drives with her older sister, and is an avid cat-lover.
Ella Sotiriades, Art Director
Ella Sotiriades is a senior and third-year staffer. When she isn’t crying over page design edits at two in the morning, you can find her at any coffee shop in town, working to improve her writing skills and indulge in some high fantasy novels. She is also the proud President of RIOT GRRRL Club, a club exploring feminist, alternative music genres. She wishes to appreciate her final year on staff by branching out and trying different aspects of journalism.
Helen Beebe, Art Director & Copy Editor
Senior Helen Beebe is a third-year staffer, artist, page designer, and the Art Director for the Three Penny Press. She joined the staff to have the opportunity to practice her photography skills, and for the past few years, Helen has been contributing her artistic view and perspective to projects on staff, and her favorite thing about TPP is the creative and diverse atmosphere. Outside of school, Helen enjoys playing her guitar, spending hours listening to music, learning French on Duolingo, drawing, and pondering the world of quantum mechanics.
Marina Martinez, Page Designer
Senior Marina Martinez is a third-year staffer who is an artist and page designer for the Three Penny Press. She loves to write reviews, especially movie reviews, where she can analyze every little detail in a film. Marina’s current favorite movies are Godzilla Minus One, Isle of Dogs and The Iron Giant. She joined TPP not only to write for the entertainment section, but to become part of a community and create wonderful stories + pages with others. Marina is also part of the varsity tech team for Red Bird Productions and Media Manager for the Riot Grrl club.
Sophia Zhao, Entertainment Editor
Sophia Zhao is a senior and third year staffer, as well as an entertainment editor. From growing up devouring books, she grew a love for writing creatively. She joined TPP to capture Bellaire’s diverse community in different medias. Her hobbies include listening to the rain or Lana Del Rey while reading and taking naps with her cat Maomi. When she’s not in a studio getting her clothes stained with oil paint, she’s finding new thrift stores, snapping memories on her new digital camera, or making time for friends.
Joy Xia, Editor-In-Chief
Joy Xia is a senior and Editor-in-Chief of Three Penny Press. As a life-long communicator, she hopes to inspire others and build an enduring community while in TPP – through writing stories, leading class, and meeting any and all of the needs of fellow staffers. At Bellaire, Joy is also part of the Debate team and leads Future Problem Solvers and Engineering Club. If you catch her outside of school, she will likely be trying her best to stay on top of work or curating lengthy to-do lists with a podcast running in the background.
