The Bellaire Belles received three Super Sweepstakes trophies in the varsity, senior and junior division at the annual HISD dance competition. Freshmen Maddie Bergoon, Sydney Duran and Elise Pantazis won first place for their trio.
“Elise, Sydney and I have been practicing every Wednesday after school for the past month for about two hours to prepare for the competition,” said Bergoon. “As freshman, we were very excited to be recognized for our trio.”
Junior Anna Hiran was awarded first place for her solo in the senior division beating out 60 other HISD soloists.
“Winning first place out of sixty soloists at the HISD competition was surreal to me,” said Hiran. “I practiced my solo for two months before the competition. It was rewarding to know
that all of the hard work and practice I endured paid off in the end.”
Sophomore Hannah Davis won first place for her solo in the junior division while Sydney Duran took second runner up. The Belles also took home eight plaques for their high scores for various other routines.
