Bellaire Belles underwent their annual auditions and elections for new officers on March 11.

Sophomore Elise Betts auditioned for the position of Captain.

“To try out for an officer position on the Belles, you have to perform a solo at a competition, make an officer binder which is very similar to a scrapbook, perform a dance with one other girl at competition, and then finally perform the solo again,” Betts said. “For my solo, I danced to “Superman” by Five for Fighting.”

Betts describes the preparation and requirements that go into the audition process.

“I’ve been on Belles for two years,” Betts said. “We didn’t have to wait too long to find out if we made it or not though. The audition was on a Tuesday, and they released the results that Friday. The first year you apply for officer the only position you can achieve is Captain. Seniors are the only ones who can take higher ranks.”
