In Oct., AP Economics teacher Michael Clark won the Texas Council on Economics Education Teacher of the Year award.

Far from hypocritical, his favorite quote comes from his sergeant while he served in the army: “Use your head for something other than a head rack.”

While obviously talented, Clark is also very passionate about his job.

“So many kids in my classes come in with such a minimal understanding of economics and personal finance,” Clark said. “By the time they leave, many of them choose to major in economics or pursue finance. It really makes a difference in their future and what they decide to become.”

Even though he’s happy to help or answer any questions, there’s one thing you shouldn’t do.

“It really annoys me when students ask me about something that I just said a couple seconds ago,” he said.

Make sure you pay attention!
