Annual Perfect Attendance Drawing

On Tuesday, January 12, Bellaire held their annual perfect attendance drawing to reward students for attending school daily.

This event was held in the auditorium during lunch; the room was bustling with energetic students, excited to see if they would win a prize. Freshman, Leticia Hsieh, won the iPad mini.

“I attend school daily because if I didn’t it would be hard for me to make up all of the work I missed, Leticia said. “I believe students who don’t come to school daily are actually missing out on a lot of information that can actually benefit them in the future.”

Bellaire principal, Michael McDonough, would also like to share a piece of advice.

“This raffle is held to promote good attendance,” McDunough said. “Research has proven that the more days you are in attendance, the more likely you are to achieve.”

McDunough and Title I Coordinator, David Thornhill are proud of the positive results from the previous drawings held.

“The number of kids that qualify for this raffle tends to go up each year,” McDunough said. “Which means more kids are making a commitment to come every period, every day.” “Almost 570 students qualified this past semester,” Thornhill said.

Bellaire PTO provided a variety of prizes for the raffle including an iPad air, an iPad mini, a GoPro camera, Beats headphones and several iPod shuffles and portable chargers. All students Present at the raffle were also given a gift card for their choice of Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, or iTunes.
