Arabic Club Luncheon
On March 10, Bellaire students immersed themselves in a brand new culture. Immediately the sound of traditional middle-eastern music filled the multipurpose room. Students of all backgrounds joined their Arabic peers in a celebration of Arabic food and culture. The meat dish consisted of lamb, rice, hummus, pita bread and baklava. The vegetarian dish was falafel with rice, hummus, pita bread, and baklava. The aroma alone transported students to a different continent. Around the main tables were booths representing different countries. These booths gave samples of different foods prevalent in their countries. From Palestine grape leaves and rice were greeted with delight. In addition to food, those who weren’t afraid of a little spice also enjoyed beverages like coffee and tea. The Arabic Club also provided entertainment with singers and dancers for all to enjoy. The Arabic club luncheon is a perfect example of what being a student at Bellaire truly encompasses. Students at Bellaire are able to have the unique experience of gaining cultural knowledge through their peers and clubs that their peers have started. Teachers and students alike joined in to learn and appreciate a different culture.
