[NEWS BRIEF] eMotion Dance Company hosts community concert

Senior Catrina Coe performs her duet “Animal” with senior Jadyn Wu. The dance was choreographed by director Paris Kent to the song Red Football by Sinead O’Connor.

eMotion Dance Company hosted a community concert on March 24 in the auditorium. 13 schools gathered at Bellaire to showcase their dances and a total of about 26 choreographies were performed that night.

eMotion members prepared for the event with dances and free gifts like hand sanitizers and chapsticks for the guests.

“We prepared the stage, songs, dances and contacted everyone to get everything together,” freshman Jayla Richard said. “Even though they were kind of a last minute thing, we even made free gifts like chapstick.”

Freshman Joselyn Esmeralda worked as a team with Richard at the auditorium entrance.

“I just want people to feel welcomed and enjoy their time,” Esmeralda said. “I think the community concert was a good idea because it brought the whole community together to come and watch their dancers.”

Sophomore and performer Eric Li said he enjoyed breakdancing for the crowd.

“The feeling of performing on stage is exhilarating and I enjoy showcasing my talent to everyone while I’m on stage,” Li said. “Just remember to go out there, let the adrenaline pump, and have fun.”

Among the 13 schools performing was Pin Oak. Junior Eden Rozic, a Pin Oak alumna, also performed that night and really enjoyed supporting her middle school.

“It was so much fun and I loved seeing all the other schools perform,” Rozic said. “I loved watching Pin Oak because they reminded me of when I used to go there. I can’t wait to see who will try out for eMotion next year.”
