Junior Joy Xia is starting her second year on the Three Penny Press staff as Print Editor. She is excited to share the untold stories of Bellaire and expand her journalism repertoire by trying new forms of media, writing, and design. Outside of TPP, Joy is very involved in the school through clubs and extracurricular activities like Engineering Club and Debate team. In her free time, Joy is either trying to catch up on her homework or listening to a good podcast or both!

I compete at local Texas Forensic Association tournaments about twice a month. Last year, I started competing on the national circuit in National Speech and Debate Association and Tournament of Champion bid tournaments.

I hated speech and debate. Now it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
