On Friday, May 6, the Belles held their annual spring show in the auditorium during 7th period and at 7 P.M. This year, the theme was “Iconic Pop”, and the dancers performed to songs by Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cher and other iconic artists. As always, the Belles presented an array of dance styles, such as jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary.

To prepare, the Belles began choreographing in early March, almost immediately after their competition season. As the show drew closer, the Belles began staying later and later after school. The week of the show, they stayed until 6:30 to run dress rehearsals in the auditorium. Sophomore Molly Anapolsky expressed how she felt about practices.

“It felt like we were at practice forever,” Anapolsky said. “I’m really happy we practiced that long because I felt really confident on stage.”

This was Anapolsky’s first year as a Varsity Belle. She compared her spring show experience as a Varsity member to last year’s experience in Junior Varsity.

“It was exciting to be on Varsity this year,” Anapolsky said. “I got to do so many more dances than when I was on J.V., and I could pick which dances I wanted to do.”

Junior Aislinn Minier, a Varsity member, had similar feelings about the show.

“We worked hard and stayed focused,” Minier said. “I felt good knowing that we had the show together, and that we could just have fun with it.”

Although the show ran smoothly, Minier described the obstacles the Belles faced backstage. “We had to change our costumes really quickly to be onstage for the next routine,” Minier said. “All the team members helped each other out, so we managed that well.”

Minier discussed what she was looking forward to the most for next year’s spring show. “I’m curious to find out the theme for next year,” Minier said.

The Belles have wrapped up the 2015-2016 year successfully, and will start preparing for football season before school starts this August.
