Constance Kemp, secretary to Assistant Principal Gary Tunstall, has worked at Bellaire for three years. To many students, she is someone to confide in, receive tardies from, and enjoy a nice conversation here and there. Although to one student, she is much more than that: she is a mom.

Kemp took on this job after her daughter got accepted into the magnet program. Although she was nervous about the transition, she has adapted to her environment and made a lasting impact on the students of the school. Kemp takes pride in the fact that she can work at the same school that her daughter attends.

“Ultimately, it was a blessing,” Kemp said. “My daughter had gotten accepted into the magnet program and at the same time there was an open position and luckily I got hired.”

Kemp has become a well-known name within the school’s community. The students admire her and the faculty and staff adore her.

“I think it’s a pretty awesome experience,” Kemp said. “I get to see her in and out of her element. I get to see her at home and I get to see her amongst her peers.”

Before coming to Bellaire, Kemp worked in Beaumont Independent School District. She and her family moved to Houston in 2013. She has adjusted to the traffic for the commute to work every day.

Kemp has not been here long, but she absolutely loves the job she has and the environment she is in. Kemp’s office is located on the third floor. Whether the students stop to say hello or have a quick conversation, her door is always open.

“I’ve been working in the school and educational system for the past seven years,” Kemp said. “The favorite part of my job is interacting with the students. We have such a diverse population and I enjoy being accessible to the students.”

Kemp has been very open during her time here at the school. She has taken her job and given it the best she has. She has been a great addition to the school, the staff, and the community.
