On Friday Sept. 19, Gallery Furniture, a popular Houston home furniture and mattress store, donated home furniture to Bellaire to revamp the teachers’ lounge. The KTRK television station nominated Bellaire as one of the twenty schools to receive a donation from Gallery Furniture this year. Gallery Furniture supplied enough furniture to refashion the seven teachers’ lounges located throughout the school. Gallery Furniture employee Paul Turner led the moving trucks that brought the new furniture to Bellaire. Turner shared the inspiration behind these donations.

“Gallery Furniture and Mattress Mack really appreciate what teachers do,” Turner said. “They deserve good furniture and a place to relax and unwind. I’ve been here for five years, and we’ve done this every year I’ve been here.”

School Business Manger Diana Leeson was one of the faculty members involved in the logistics of the donation. Leeson explained the process that she and the other participants went through when receiving the donation.

“We were able to go to Gallery Furniture and pick it all out,” Leeson said. “We wanted to have something for every teachers’ lounge.  Hopefully the teachers will be happy, it’s a surprise for them. I hope it gives them a place to go and feel comfortable when they’re not in class because it’s a hard job to do.”

Gallery Furniture plans to continue their furniture donations to Houston area schools to show their appreciation towards the teachers and school faculty.
