Tea Society and Karaoke Club hosted a celebration for Valentine’s Day with songs, tea, and snacks during the second half of Cardinal Hour in room 2726 on Feb. 13. More than 40 students attended the event and participated in the Valentine’s Day festivities.
“The turnout was really surprising,” sophomore and Tea Society President Iris Yeh said. “I really did not expect such a long line out the door for the meeting, but I’m glad people showed up.”
Attendees of the event could select love songs on request, which were then displayed on the board on sing-alongs. Tea Society also brought a variety of strawberry drinks for guests to sample. This included strawberry tea, strawberry milk tea and strawberry milk. Officers of the club even offered freshly chopped strawberry bits and crunchy ice as toppings to add in the drinks.
“We made the tea ourselves,” Yeh said. “Even though the tea bags were store bought, the officers and I manually adjusted the sugar levels and quantities the day before.”
Sophomore and Karaoke Club President Josephine Eltzschig orchestrated the meeting and collaboration with Yeh.
“The Valentine’s [collaboration] was really fun,” Eltzschig said. “I loved spending time with so many lovely people enjoying the day with sweet drinks and beautiful songs.”
Besides Tea Society’s strawberry drinks, Karaoke Club offered cookies and cakes for attendees.
“My favorite thing about the meeting was definitely the cookies,” sophomore Rajan Vyas said. “But the tea was really good too.”
Tea Society meets every second Tuesday of the month, and Karaoke Club meets weekly on Wednesdays.
