The National Beta Club (NBC) and Dessert Club hosted a holiday-themed dessert selling event in Room 2700 during the second half of Cardinal Hour on Dec. 8.
Treats sold at the event included cake pops, brownies, slices of vanilla butter cakes, confetti cookies, chocolate chip brownies, cinnamon sugar blondies and peppermint sugar cookies. One reason NBC and Dessert Club collaborated is because they all “love desserts,” according to junior NBC treasurer Evyn Rudin.
“We like to get a bunch of people in clubs to expose our people [to other clubs], and we know a lot of people here,” Rudin said. “Part of this club is giving back to our students.”
Dessert Club president and senior Annie Tsang saw that this event brought members of both clubs together to bring holiday fun.
“We thought that both of our club’s members would enjoy the treats, so we decided to collaborate for fun,” Tsang said. “I hope the students gain an appreciation for the treats and see the value in their contribution, as Dessert Club collaborates with multiple clubs and organizations in and outside of Bellaire.”
The event kicked off slowly with only a couple sales, so the officers of both clubs decided to transport the cookies and desserts on the go in order to reach a bigger audience. Around five of the 15 total officers from both clubs packed aluminum foil trays with the remaining desserts and changed the original sale price from a $2 entrance cost to a $1 flash sale.
After switching to selling treats on the go, the clubs sold out in under 15 minutes, with even more people coming by the room after they had sold out.
